Today’s topic is Roles – ie who does what / takes responsibility for different things in your relationship. Most are unspoken and we naturally fall into them eg all men must take the bin out surely! ???? But there are less obvious roles such as who brings up any issues, decides what we’re doing etc. I’ve been thinking about Roles as we’re just home after 3 days camping. The kids love it because they run wild, free, late and muddy. Husband loves it because he finds it really relaxing – a true break from emails / admin etc. I love it because Husband goes into chores mode – he puts up the tent, cooks the food, washes up, empties the family wee bucket (yep, essential bit of kit!) etc. All I have to do is supervise the kids …. & they are nowhere to be seen running wild! Oh and I do meal planning / chopping & research what we’re going to do. The rest of the time I chat with fellow campers, drink wine, laugh at the kids as they run past, tend the fire & look at the stars. Important roles and someone has to do them … luckily it’s me! How do your roles change on holiday? Or where do you need to chat about them generally to avoid role fatigue, where 1 person is fed up always doing a particular role?
