???? For the 5th tip of Christmas the Couples Coach gave to me 5 Pineapple Rings ????. Well 5 portions of Fruit & Veg actually but that didn’t fit the song so well so I had to improvise! What? Had Sue lost her mind? Is it just because her other passion is nutrition? What on Earth does that have to do with relationships at Christmas? Well plenty actually.
I do feel that a lot of the issues that couples & families can suffer from around Christmas are made far worse by people feeling exhausted, drunk, hungover or ill. We all know that we’re less patient, more grumpy, more depressed, more intolerant etc when we are any of the above and being any of these is unhelpful in our relationships. And this is probably a time when you need to be at your best, especially if you have a more challenging extended family or perhaps are feeling a little lonely at Christmas.
Now I love several Gins & a bag of Twiglets as much as the next person – let’s face it, it is party season. Today’s post is a little reminder to try and build in some balance to your diet. For example, if I’m off partying, I try and eat extra fruit & veg during the day for all the antioxidants & vitamins & minerals that my body is going to need. Even a bonus banana on the way out of the door can help. A Multi-Vit pill just doesn’t have the same impact, although a handy boost in an emergency.
You’ll know what your body needs if you pause and think, whether it’s healthy food, the odd early night, exercise or more water. Maybe try giving your body a gift (or 5) this year. What could your body do with today? Stay healthy lovely people, your relationships & mental health will thank you for it. Pls like / share. Sue X
