Go after your dreams, even if you don’t know what they are!

Today’s post is to encourage you to go after your dreams, even if you don’t know what they are.

After nearly 3 weeks in our new home we all feel incredibly lucky to be here and that we are literally living the dream. We feel totally at home in our new house. We really appreciate how friendly village life is with a truly community feel. The fresh air and quiet are calming & nurturing. I’ve found loads of activities to join that I’m really enjoying. My kids are loving their new school, can’t wait to go to school each day & have made friends easily. Husband is finding the longer commute completely fine & even spends less time working / travelling. I don’t feel lonely, which I thought I might initially, mainly because it is so easy to chat to anyone here … I literally go up to strangers at school or on the street and start chatting & so far they are always receptive!!

Of course there are things that we need to adjust to. For example, I had no idea I had become so conditioned to London driving – I am absolutely useless when it comes to dark, country lanes. And there are frustrations – a lack of good cleaners and an over abundance of insects!! And I am yet to find a Gin buddy. But these are all minor compared to the stuff that matters and makes us happy.

And how did we get to be here? Well fundamentally we started dreaming of something better than what we had. Not that we were miserable – we were pretty happy and life was fine but I didn’t want to settle for ‘fine’ and I encourage you to dream of better too. We didn’t know exactly what we were looking for but we went out exploring different possibilities, talking to people, researching, imagining what life might be like in different locations, talking and talking and talking some more as a family. We also had to be brave, make tough decisions & leave our comfort zones – to walk away from the life we had created in Wimbledon, to take a big leap of faith with a very different and very liberal school, to risk moving two very happy children, to ride the roller-coaster of emotions etc. And so far I’m incredibly grateful that it seems to have paid off.

My hope, with this post, is that one or more, of you might decide to not keep putting up with situations that are not working for you. Maybe it’s your job? Perhaps you and your spouse are not getting on great? Maybe you long for adventure? Maybe you want a simpler life? Maybe you wish you had more friends? Whatever is just ‘fine’ or a bit crap can definitely be dreamt up to something better. You don’t have to know what the dream is, you just have to take the first steps. Perhaps just take a few moments today to see what aspects of your life you’re not loving and ponder what could be different & then start with 1 small action. Please share as you never know who might need a gentle nudge today. Thanks for reading and sharing in my dream ❤️
